Luca Baldo Cocaine

According to an article recently published in USAToday.com, world renowned footballer, Luca Baldo, has been officially banned from participating in any Swiss League play for at least two years, after he tested positive for cocaine use during a routine exam.

The Swiss Olympic committee was the official party to break the news of Baldo’s test results earlier last week. The sample was apparently collected after a league play match, between Baldo’s team Lugano and another Swiss League team St. Gallen, which took place back in December.

Baldo had come to Lugano from his home club Modena back in Italy and is now barred from joining his Lugano teammates or any Swiss League play until January of 2011. Under international soccer rules, the Switzerland National Association is obligated to report the occurrence to the larger governing body FIFA, which can expand the ban already placed against Baldo to any FIFA international play.
